Germany will discuss a national plan to cut pollution from diesel engines and set up a new organization to test vehicles to try to restore consumer confidence after Volkswagen's (VOWG_p.DE) emissions scandal, ministers said on Tuesday.

The moves - almost two years after the Volkswagen scandal broke - come as the German government faces growing pressure ahead of national elections on Sept. 24 to reduce emissions or see some cities ban diesel cars themselves.

On Monday, Reuters reported the transport ministry was pushing carmakers to update engine management software to cut pollution in up to 12 million diesel vehicles in the country, citing people familiar with the talks.

On Tuesday, the transport ministry and the environment ministry announced the creation of a "national diesel forum" to work with the auto industry and regional governments to cut emissions, with the first meeting set for Aug. 2.

"We want emissions to fall across Germany," Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt said in a statement.

PhoneGate, Explained

Although this site sells products to protect people from exposure to electromagnetic radiation, we are posting it because it is about Phonegate.

PhoneGate, Explained
shieldyourbody.com, 27 June 2017

Between 2012 and 2016, France’s National Frequency Agency (ANFR) tested 379 different models of cell phones for their radiation emissions. Earlier this month, compelled by a court order, ANFR released the data they had collected. The result is now being called ‘PhoneGate’ and is gaining an increasing amount of attention.

Why?

What the Report Found

The French government found that 89% of the tested phones exceeded their reported radiation emission levels— some by up to 300%. That means these phones emitted up to four times the radiation the manufacturers claimed.

The Environmental Health Trust has summarized the data thusly:

French government tests on hundreds of cell phones reveal that in 2015, 9 out of 10 phones exceed the manufacturer’s reported radiation test levels when re-tested in positions where the phone is in contact with the body. The government had refused to disclose these test results until the court order.

HEALTH EXEMPTION FOR FIREFIGHTERS SENDS A MESSAGE TO THE WORLD
by Susan Foster

Trends often start in California, spread across the U.S. and frequently around the world. And so it is with wireless technology and the policy advancing the now unchecked expansion of wireless infrastructure throughout our communities. The next few days may signal a policy shift tipping point from which there is no return, and firefighters – forever on the front lines when it comes to health and safety – have a message for all of us through their proactive stance.

How Mobile Phones (Mis)Use Is Affecting Our Health & Social Fabric

Today, there are more than two billion cell phone users swimming in the pool of electromagnetic radiation.

How Mobile Phones (Mis)Use Is Affecting Our Health & Social Fabric
by Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Wani, kashmirobserver.net, 25 June 2017

People don’t have time to talk with their children and vice versa.

Mobile phones have become part and parcel of life to people of all ages these days. People spend hours on mobile phones to remain in contact with their relatives, colleagues and business partners. Some spend days on social networking sites like whatsapp, facebook, tinder, twitter etc. Children often take over mobile phones of their parents to play games and almost every child has a craze to do so. They have been devoting considerable time with these gadgets than with their parents and family.

People don’t have time to talk with their children and vice versa. People in their old ages have become the worst sufferers of this technology as today there is no body to listen folklores and stories because everyone in the family is busy with mobile phones in one or the other way.

Do not believe the hype that the increase in cancer cases is due to a growing and aging population.  Too many cancers are caused by exposure to our polluted environment.

1 in 2 Canadians will get cancer, 1 in 4 will die of disease: Cancer Society
by Sheryl Ubelacker, The Canadian Press,
20 June 2017

Almost one in every two Canadians is expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and one in four Canadians will die from the disease, a new report by the Canadian Cancer Society predicts.

In 2017, an estimated 206,200 Canadians will be diagnosed with some form of cancer and an estimated 80,800 will succumb to their malignancy – making cancer the leading cause of death in Canada, the charitable organization said Tuesday in its annual cancer statistics report.

Latest diesel car models remain highly polluting, tests show
by Damian CarringtonEnvironment editor, The Guardian, 23 June 2017

Six new vehicles including Land Rover and Suzuki are adding to air pollution crisis, despite stricter rules coming in months

The latest diesel car models are failing to meet pollution limits when on the road, just three months ahead of stricter new tests, independent tests have found. Results show that none of six new 2017 diesel cars met the EU standard for toxic nitrogen oxides (NOx) pollution in real-world driving.

The updated Equa Index, produced by the testing firm Emissions Analytics, shows that 86% of all diesel models put on to the British market since the 2015 Volkswagen emissions scandal failed to meet the official limit on the road, with 15% producing at least eight times more NOx emissions.

Air Pollution More Harmful to Children in Cars than Outside, Warns Top Scientist

Mention should also be made of children's exposure to electromagnetic radiation when cell phones are used in cars.  The waves are reflected by the metallic structure and concentrated in a small space, increasing their strength.  The phone emits more powerfully, searching for the nearest antenna.

Opinion: Smoking in cars is banned. But children still inhale toxic fumes in backseats

Children are at risk of dangerous levels of air pollution in cars because exposure to toxic air is often far higher inside than outside vehicles, a former government chief scientific adviser has warned.

Experts warn of risks in the home from baby monitors and mobile phones

Although you can’t see it, electromagnetic radiation is all around your baby. Not everyone is aware that, for example, a cordless baby monitor emits radiation or that a cordless phone is effectively a mast in your own home acting as a transmitter.

Ever thought about the levels of radiation your baby is exposed to?

IN HUMANKIND’S seemingly never-ending quest to give life to toys, we’ve reached a major milestone: digitally animated eyes, rendered with small LCD screens. With these enhancements, no longer do dolls need to stare blankly into the distance. Now playthings can appear to glance around the room or scrutinize you directly. Some can even alter their expression.

The New Furby Review: Absolute Horror
by Sam Biddlegizmodo.com, 24 August 2012

The Furby materialized on American shelves in 1998, after a brief warp-trip from some ethereal hell-domain. It drove parents insane. Their children wanted one, insanely badly. They sold out, insanely quickly. Now, the Furby is back, and it is insanity incarnate.
